HUMBLE BEGINNINGS FOR THE LARGEST TIKI BAR IN THE FLORIDA KEYS
Boondocks opened their doors over 25 years ago as a small ice cream shop. The current kitchen was the entire building. Quickly realizing Ramrod Key was in need of more than just ice cream the original owners expanded the menu to include sandwiches, and later added beer and wine to the mix.
It wasn’t until 2001 that the real transformation began to take place. Lanny was first to arrive in the Florida Keys and scope out Boondocks. Seeing past the overgrown trees and broken tables he immediately called this father, Larry and long time friend and colleague, John to hop the next flight down and check out their new home.
With Lanny’s vision, John’s restaurant expertise and Larry’s backbreaking work ethic, Boondocks Grille and Draft House and Miniature Golf has become one of the most popular destinations on the overseas highway.

At Boondocks our staff is our family and we have fun. But we do run a tight ship. Every employee undergoes a rigorous training regiment and each shift begins with a team meeting. Only the very best service people in the Florida Keys make the roster at Boondocks. Many being with us for years on years.
